Turkish textile firms left their mark on Magic Show which is the biggest mixed fair of the world composing with ready- made clothing, textile, leather ready- to-wear, accessory and shoes.

The Luck of Turkish Textile Turned in Las Vegas

24 firms from Turkey participated for Magic Show which is the biggest ready- made clothing fair of USA being carried out in July. In the fair which was organized in Las Vegas, the products that were exhibited by Turkish firms attracted great attention. Magic Show which is organized in Las Vegas twice a year as being both in February and August is visited by 75 thousands of people from about 60 countries. The fair in which 1.200 firms take place as participators carries the feature of being the biggest mixed fair of the world composing with ready- made clothing, textile, leather ready- to-wear, accessory and shoes.

Derman and Maksima Group, EKOTEKS Laboratory, Ekspres Textile, Evteks Textile, Güreks Textile, Guzella Textile, IPGN Design Textile, Lepa Textile, Lota Shoes, Nasırlılar Textile, Onteks Textile, Tamiş Shirt, Zandar Shoes, Deri Marketing and Gizia from Turkey introduced their products for the visitors.

The President of the General Secretariat of Istanbul Textile and Apparels Exporters’ Association (IHKIB), The Committee of EU, USA and Far East Fairs and External Affairs Özkan Karaca said that China lost its cost advantage at wearing product export for USA and it needs to show up more.

“We will be Alternative to China”

Karaca who said that USA which is the biggest ready- made clothing importer of the world makes its 39 billon dollar import of 100 billion dollar ready- wear clothing from China, underlined that Turkey couldn’t take the share it deserved. Karaca who stated that an important opportunity is coming close for Turkey, also said ‘’ China is losing its cost expense gradually. And USA is searching for alternative for China. Chinese and Turkish exporters pays the same customs rate for the products they sell for USA. As being Turkish read- wear clothing exporters, with the gaining value of dollar, we caught both cost and profit advantages. To use the opportunity, we needed to focus on USA and take our place in the biggest ready- wear clothing fair of the country. As well as February, American buyers showed great interest for our exporter firms at the second fair of the year’’.

Karaca who stated that they targeted to raise their share which was under 5% in USA ready- wear clothing market to 1, 5%, said ‘’ At 100 billion dollar USA ready- wear clothing market, we will increase our 465 million dollar share to 1, 5 billion dollars within three years’’.

Turkish Trade Center will be the Driving Power of Export

Karaca who said that luck in Las Vegas turned for Turkish textile sector and they needed to make use of this opportunity well, also stated that they wanted to minimize the regression in Europe, Russia and region countries with increasing of the export for USA due to the effect of parity. By relaying the news on Turkish Trade Center which was planned to open until the end of the year in New York, Karaca thanked to the Ministry of Economy due to its efforts.
