EVTEKS, one of the two biggest fairs worldwide in home textiles, would be organized and open its’ doors to visitors with its’ 26th edition, a fair organized by Istanbul Exhibition and with the cooperation between, Turkey Home Textile Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association. However, the Coronavirus epidemic that occurred in Wuhan, China resulted in cancellation or postponement of many fairs to unsettled date, and EVTEKS was one of the fairs facing cancellations and delays.
A written statement released by the Turkey Home Textile Industrialists on the postponement of the fair; up to date in 88 countries in excess of four thousand people have lost their lives due to the Coronavirus which is spreading rapidly across nations and as a consequence, travel arrangements of citizens have cancelled.
“Virus Is Continuing to Threat Human Life”
In the written statement, the rapid increase in the outbreak cases has resulted in the cancellation of many festivals, fashion shows, sports events that have great importance for many more sectors, and shared the following, "As we have not seen any cases in Turkey alike, we are pleased both for the nation and for the Turkish home textiles industry. However, the virus continues to threaten life in many countries, the largest and most important markets industrially for us, and does not allow citizens of chosen countries to travel to other countries. In the light of these developments in the world, TETSİAD Board of Directors gathered under the leadership of Hasan Hüseyin Bayram and have decided to postpone the 26th International Home Textile Fair EVTEKS, which is the biggest organization of our sector and would be held between 21 and 25 April 2020, for the reasons mentioned above.’’
