As one of the biggest nonwoven and technical textile events of the global arena, Techtextil will be organised on 11-13 June 2013 in Frankfurt. In the event where a record number of participants was registered, 11 countries will display their products in their own pavillions. Beside to German firms, global manufacturers also showed interest to the fair. This situation pleased the fair authorities. Return of some firms which had previously participated but have not taken part in recent years to the fair highlighted the importance of the event once more. When firm participation rates of countries are considered, the highest increase was seen in India by 254 %. It was followed by Poland which increased its participant number by 66 %, Turkey which increased its participant number by14 % and Japan with an increase of 10 %. Among the firms returning to the fair, Kaneka Belgium (Belgium), Dystar (Germany), Kufner Textil (Germany), J & D Wilkie (Great Britain), Huntsman Advanced Materials (Switzerland), Mogul Tekstil (Turkey) and Mitsubishi Rayon co. (Japan) stood out.
As the area where the fair is organised expanded, size of the area where participants open their booths increased considerably. Belgium, China, France, India, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Czech Republic, England and USA will be presented with national pavillions in the fair. As many countries will display their products in a single area, visitors will be able to see the firms of a single country together.
Number of Visitors will Increase Significantly
Making explanations about the fair, Executive Board Member of Messe Frankfurt Detlef Braun stated that they had never made so many reservations in any one of editions. Not surprised by the fact that the record was broken in 2013 following the successful event held in 2011, Braun expressed that Techtextil will vividify the sector with a successful edition as the leading organisation in the international platform for nonwoven and functional clothe textiles. Braun stated that : “Texprocess trade fair will display the latest technologies processing textile and other flexible materials.”. making important evaluations about Techtextil and Texprocess fairs, Detlef Braun emphasized that they organise these two fairs which have parallel product ranges at the same time. Stressing that they expect 36.000 visitors for the fairs in total, Braun also stated that 1.530 fairs will take part in the fair.
Michael Janecke who is the Brand Management Director of Techtextil to be held for the 15th time recorded that they bring technical textile applications and product groups together every two years. Emphasizing that technical textiles, nonwoven and related textile technologies are used in many industrial fields, Janeke reminded that functional wear textiles will also be included in the product range of 2013 Techtextil fair in addition to nonwoven, composite textiles, fiber and yarn.
Attention will be Increased with Techtextil and Avantex Symposium
Two comprehensive symposium will also be held in addition to the products displayed in the fair. Organisation to be held in Messe Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Center will be held under the name of Techtextil and Avantex Symposium. Participants and visitors will display the latest trends and innovations throughout the world in this platform. These two symposiums conduct their activities as a driving force for the sector. Latest innovations and technological developments are the topics of the symposiums. Techtextil symposium is generally focused on new productions and technological developments in textile. It also focuses on usability, sustainability and light structures. Among the topics of Techtextil, user requirements, nano technology and high technology textile products, sustainable textile technologies, new fibers, use of technical textile in light structures, development of sustainability in technical textile, smart textile products and finishing technologies can be listed.
As to Avantex symposium, it will be an event where global opinions about new products, trends and textile materials will be discussed. Focal points of the symposium will be usability and protective products. Themes of this symposium include protective personnel clothes, smart wear products, functional clothes, clothes and electronic systems.
Awards for Innovations and Students
The internationally renowned Techtextil and Avantex Innovation Awards, which are given for fascinating, innovative and unconventional achievements in the fields of research, development, material and product development and new technologies, represent another important part of the event. The 12th ‘Textile Structures for New Building’ Student Competition focuses on outstanding ideas and concepts for tomorrow’s architecture. The prize money corresponds to € 2,000 this year. The Student Competition and the special show of award-winning products is organised by Messe Frankfurt with the support of the international TensiNet association.
Techtextil and Texprocess together again
Texprocess, the International Trade Fair for Processing Textile and Flexible Materials, will be held at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre concurrently with Techtextil from 10 to 13 June 2013. At Texprocess, manufacturers from all over the world will present high-tech solutions for the apparel industry and textile processing. The product groups of the event range from design, pattern making and cutting, via sewing and joining, to embroidery, textile dressing, finishing, IT and logistics.
Brand Management Director of Texprocess Stefan Seitz made an explanation and stated that 70 % of the exhibition area has been filled in 2013. Reminding that 60 % of all participants came from foreign countries, Seitz stated that this rate was 50 % in terms of visitors. It is expected that 17.000 visitors will come to the edition in 2013 from 40 countries in total together with the visitors of Texhtextil.
While Texprocess include a wide range of product segments from design and sewing, embroidery, knitting and combining, finishing, logistics and IT, Techtextil appeals to a product range covering large segments in textile value chain. Besides, it is reported that many firms including Amann, Assyst, Brother, Coats, Dürkopp Adler, Expert Systemtechnik, Ferd Schmetz, FK Group, Gerber Technologies, Gütermann, Human Solutions, Hornung Indupress, Kaiser Lutra Textilmaschinen, Kansai, KSL, Lectra, Juki, Macpi, Madeira, Martin Group, Morgan Tecnica, Sunstar, topcut-bullmer, Veit, Vibemac, Xian Typical and ZSK have already registered in the fair so far.
One of the highlights of Texprocess fair is defined as IT solutions. In Hall 4.0, exhibitors present a comprehensive range of applications that not only support both production and the trade but also optimise and accelerate processes. Besides, 3-D simulations, which are
used across the board, from design and cutting to marketing will be in focus. Under the title of ‘Source it’, Texprocess will offer solutions for apparel sector.It also offers additional benefits for fashion labels and contract manufacturers. In the fair where manufacturers will be informed with special presentations, leading firms of the global sector will take place. In Hall 5.0, national pavillions and manufacturing companies will inform guests about fason manufacturing and expertise in their respective countries. Furthermore, decision makers of these companies and experts and visitors taking part in the wear sector will find the opportunity of establishing new business connections.
Technical Sewing Parts for Technical Products
Technical Textiles continue being one of the most important segments of the sector with a rapidly evolving nature. These products which are specially named completely in terms of machine technology and usag also increase the requirements of manufacturers in this respect. Manufacturing the long-lasting, cost-effective and functional sewing thread which is not affected by environmental factors is the most important title of this field. Firms to take part in the fair will offer solutions for related problems of manufacturers. Global sewing thread manufacturers will inform visitors about the relevant technological developments. Besides, firms which manufacture threads for protective workwear will introduce their latest products. Different types of aramide fibres can be used in either spun form or as continuous filament to produce heat-resistant, non-melting, self-extinguishing sewing threads with low inflammability. In their different form, they can be used heat-protective-workwear, work gloves, aircraft seats, airbags, bullet proof jackets and lumbermen wear. Many types of sewing threads assisting the manufacturing of special technical textile products are among the most outstanding topics of the fair. Therad manufacturers will display their resistant therad productions for high heat resistance, airbags and safety belts in Texprocess Hall 5 and mainly Techtextil Hall 4.1.

Firms to take part in Texprocess will firstly display their embroidery machines in Hall 6.0. Besides, the firm will host special shows of firms in the fields of finishing and logistics product groups. Cutting and sewing machines will also be exhibited in the fair. Visitors to these two special organisations will be informed about technical textile products, fashion industry and new product groups. In the events where functional wear will also be introduced, high-tech products will be exhibited.
Having an important impact on textile sector, the event hosted 326 participants in its 2011 edition. While the fair was visited by 10.500 people approximately, 6,500 people who came to Techtextil fair also visited Texprocess. The nex edition of the fair will be held together with Techtextil North America in Atlanta on 13-15 May 2014.
