54th edition of Dornbirn Synthetic Fiber Congress is getting ready to host more than 800 participants from over 30 countries. The management of the event in which the presentation of biopolymer fiber and filament innovations, functionality and adaptation of fibers and surfaces, nonwoven and filtration, environment and health, advanced fiber and process technologies will be made by more than 100 experts in their subjects is changed. Friedrich Weninger took over the Chairmanship of European Synthetic Fiber Institute and the Chairmanship of DORNBIRN- MFC from Heinz Kmonicek. The Member of the Board of Lenzing AG, Robert van de Kerkhof became the president of AUTRIAN- MFI.
After task change, Weninger stated that Dornbirn- MFC would be an opinion dynamo for global fiber industry and its production processes and they would concentrate on the cooperation among industry, universities, technical colleges and occupational organization, he also said ‘’ Thanks to this cooperation, it can create positive effect for the benefit of all player at the market and at the same time we can encourage its international characteristic by focusing on the heart and the technology of Europe’’.
Dornbirn -MFC Green Event

In this regard, we care about environment- friendly travel organizations, reduction of CO2, ecologic and catering, environment- friendly accommodation and material and waste management subjects. We will use FSC and TCF certificated papers by showing special concern for environment- friendly paper and print processes’’. Weninger also said that Dornbirn Synthetic Fibers Congress turned into a global brand and the best evidence of this was the participant number which increases each year.
Weninger who expressed that event was carried out with the sponsors stated they signed new sponsorship agreements with Kunstuniversität Linz Fine Arts and Industrial Design University, Austria Economic Agency, German Hahl/ Pedex Group and Märkische Faser GmbH. Weninger also added his words that their sponsorships with Austria Vorarlberg State, Dornbirn City, Lenzing AG, CIRFS and Industrievereinigung Chemiefasern-IVC has been keeping on.
Biotechnology
In the symposium which will be organized this year, latest developments on sustainable solutions brought with biopolymers and biotechnology for fiber sector, functional yarn usage, fiber- yarn application adaptations, nonwoven and filtration and fiber will be discussed in detail.
On the global world which communication networks became popular in the previous symposium which has been organized since 1962, by focusing on business cycles and hard competition, new product release duration of the sector to the marketplace, productivity created with resource, raw material, energy, sustainability and recycling were discussed and possible developments within 10- 15 years for global fiber industry was evaluated. In the symposium which had participation from Asian, American and European universities and research institutes, important studies especially on synthetic fiber which is used at sports field were signed.
