The President of International Apparel Federation, Rahum Mehta who came Istanbul said that they would use every means available for Turkey to reach 60 billion dollars export target in 2023.

Support Promise Turkey from International Apparel Federation

Rahul Mehta who is the President of IAF (International Apparel Federation) - the biggest garment industry organization of the world- came Istanbul to start preparatory works of 31st IAF World Fashion Congress which would be organized between the dates 14 and 15 October. Mehta who came together with Hikmet Tanrıverdi- the President of the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters - and Şeref Fayat- the President of the Association of Turkey Clothing Industry- said they followed Turkish garment industry closely. He stated that they represented 25 millions of personnel in more than 50 countries with members over 150 thousands.

“We will use every means available”

Mehta said “As being IAF, we target for our members to gain maximum value in international cooperation by creating intercontinental bridges. We are trying to develop sector by gathering garment industry manufacturers, retail dealers, brands, manufacturers, solution provider and associations. While realizing these, of course we are following Turkey closely which is one of the most important manufacturers of the world” and Mehta continued his speech “We know that you set 60 billion dollars export goal for 2023  and you want to carry out 30 billion dollars of this as organizer country. We promise you to give complete support to achieve this target within the scope of organizer country by using our every means available. We see the success of Turkey as our success”.

“Our cooperation will create synergy”

The President of the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters, Hikmet Tanrıverdi stood out the importance of the support which would be given by IAF by expressing the happiness of hosting Rahul Mehta in Istanbul. Tanrıverdi who said that they hoped working together in international projects and making noteworthy contributions for garment industry, also informed that Cem Altan who was the Member of Board would represent the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters at IAF.

Tanrıverdi said “Representng of Turkish garment industry at IAF Board of Directors via the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters after the Association of Turkey Clothing Industry will be beneficial for both of two parties. Turkey’s garment industry and made- up clothes export in 2014 became 18,7 billion dollars. 13,8 billion dollars of this number realized by the members of the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters. As being the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters, now and from now on, we will keep on making activities to develop Turkish garment industry and Turkish fashion and add much more value. On the other hand, IAF is an international organization and has meaningful and significant mission and has a wide vision which carries garment industry further with different activities. When considering the whole, we believe that we will work in synergy for world’s garment industry and will make cooperation at high levels.”

“We will carry out a successful organization with IAF and the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters”

The President of the Association of Turkey Clothing Industry, Şeref Fayat stated that they would sign under a successful agreement with the Association of Istanbul Garment Industry Exporters and IAF and they would overcome 8th Istanbul Fashion Conference and IAF 31st World Fashion Congress which would be carried out simultaneous. He also added “I see this organization to be arranged at the same date such important. I hope obtaining successful results from our Fashion Conference and IAF Congress in the future by giving inspiration for textile and garment industry sectors to work together. I think this global sharing will send a strong positive message. We will step big to develop potential cooperation by gathering foreign purchasing groups and Turkish manufacturers”.
