Stating that, “We now focus on top end American brands from such regions as California, Texas and Massachusetts following the successful first edition attracting the world famous New York fashion brands”, Ercole Botto Poala, new President of Milano Unica, continued his remarks as such: “About 60 Italian participants presented their 2017 spring/summer collections in this edition. The main goal of the fair is to approach this market from all aspects. We target not only traditional clients such as big retailers or designers but also new types of clients showing the great potential of North America.”
Italian Trade Agency cooperated with Milano Unica once more in the organisation of the New York edition. Saying that, “We know that the USA is an important market for the Italian firms”, Maurizio Forte, Manager of ITA New York and Coordinator of USA ITA Offices continued by saying that, “Figures concerning the export of the Italian textile sector to the USA show an increase of 17.2 % in the first nine months of 2015 when compared to the same period of 2014. This confirms sector growth and market validity. This initiative is a part of the USA Fashion Project developed by the Ministry of Economic Development in order to promote and increase the export of the fashion sector to the USA.”
New York Edition Reinforced with Two Novelties: Trend Area and Synthesis Area
The first novelty constituting a significant part of the fair experience, the Trend Area presented the season trends to the visitors in accordance with the conceptual and architectural planning prepared by art director Stefano Fadda and his team for the presentation held in Milan. These trends guided the participants and helped better understand and manage professional choices. As for the Synthesis Area, Massimo Mosiello, General Director of the event, said that, “Synthesis Area, located on the left at the beginning of the fair area, is a kind of trend catalogue presenting the timeless products that are created by similar companies and represent the essence of their productions”.
