
“Munich Fabric Start”-Munich International Fabric Trade Fair- was held within 5-7th February 2013. The fair with the motto “Beauty Full” played host to quality fabrics and options for Spring.Summer 2014 Season. One of the most outstanding trends was transparan details applied on the fabrics inspired from the years of 50s and 60s. In addition, technical fabrics and designs for high fashion were among the outstanding works. Munich Fabric Start in which 840 participants exhibited their high quality fabrics and additionals on 40,000 square meters played host to several international designers and media representatives during 3 fair days. A number of buyers from global area visited the fair and also more than 140 participants from Turkey participated.The new stand system, trend area and the foyer of the fair were seen with an interest. In the fair, approximately 1300 collections were presented.
Events Organized for The Participants From Turkey
A lot of events such as Munich Fabric Night and Turkish Fashion Week were organized during the fair. In Turkish Fashion Break, a special organization prepared for Turkish participants, more than 20 participants from Turkey introduced their new works to the visitors by regarding sourcing and alternatives to production in Far East. Some comments about the presentations made during the day were received in Munich Fabric Night. Followers of the fair were made to be met face to face within this framework. Another element coming to the front from the fair was additionals and “Organic Selection” area, as a new part of accessories. Besides, in environment/ECO Summit with Greenpeace, the issue of “Future for Cotton” were discussed in the fair. In the event held in Eco Village on 6th February Alexandra Perschau from Future For Coton made a prensentation with the title “Better Cotton compared to organic cotton- The market situation and relevance”. On the same day, Manfred Santen from Greenpeace gave some information about PFC in the outdoor clothing industry under the title “Chemistry for every day”.
Recyling and Laser Technology
The theme “Street and Art” appeared in a special part called Blue Zone booked for denims. From Isko to Casdiani, 55 exhibitors of the denim industry displayed their collections of rock, punk and hip-hop characteristics. Loose cuts, spandex and super-stretch materials were introduced as measures of denims. Besides, samples of metallic effects, 3D prints and transparent coatings, representatives of modernity in new denim season, were also displayed. Because the recycling and laser technologies are among the significant issues, now they draw attraction as the main themes in the events. Neopatching comes as a new design element. Within this framework, samples of new recycling and laser technologies were shown in the fair. Live performance of the laser denim by Jenologia, finishing speacilist from Spain, were also outstanding.
Organic Selection Area As An Important Development
Munich Fabric Start has created an area called organic selection for sustainability in accessories and additionals. The importance of trims and accessories suppliers has increased in the fair and 200 specialists showcased their collections in two different hall. With this development important for Eco sector, over the 500 certified fabrics, trims and accessories were tested and certified for the first time. While the issue of high fashion standards of sustainable materials were discussed in the part of organic productions, the works for the future of the sector were treated in round-table meeting organized by C.L.A.S.S.
New Creations Showcased In Design Studios
In the new exhibition format, the idea of Design Studios were developed in response to growing need of textile industry for creative design solutions. Comprehensive trend information and inspiration took part in Design Studio. The artists and textile designers had a chance to market their own fabric designs, artworks and various samples. Several designers including the names such as Anteprima, Musticstyle, Bluestudio and Robert Vernet joined this section.
