Lenzing A.G, world known manufacturer of cellulose fibre production, held a seminar to its customers in order to strengthen the position of the fibre TENCEL® in the Turkish knitting market and introduce new fibre processing methods. The seminar, where the important figures participated as speaker in the fields of marketing, sustainability and branding, was moderated by Mukadder Özden, Chairperson of Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association.
In his opening speech of the seminar, the new Board Member and Chief Commercial Officer of Lenzing, Robert van de Kerkhof stated that Turkey, the world's 7th largest textile exporter, is one of the important markets of Lenzing and he added that Turkish textile sector annually imported 260 tons of cellulose. Stating that 38 percent of this amount consists of fibres produced by Lenzing, Kerkhof said that they will increase their market share around the world thanks to new TENCEL® production facilities. Saying that they have finally finished the construction of the world's most modern fibre facility after a process of 24 months, Kerkhof stated that the facility, cost 150 million Euros, started the production at full capacity.
We Offer the Fibre Materials of the Future
After his speech, Kerkhof made special statements for Our Magazine Group. He said that Turkey is an important market for Lenzing and that they participated in this fair in order to establish a relationship directly with the manufacturers. Saying that they can provide technical services more quickly with their technical office opened in Gaziantep, Kerkhof stated that they offer fibre materials of the future to the textile industry with TENCEL®.
Pointing out to the fact that eco-friendly and innovative fibre is a milestone in terms of ecology and innovation, Kerkhof said that they will focus on developments in the knitting sector. Kerkhof said that TENCEL® woven products were mainly emphasized but now TENCEL® fibres will stand out with their bright colours and new finishing processes in knitting applications.
Increasing Demand for Sustainable Products
In his presentation, Dieter Eichinger, Vice Chairman of Clothing Business Development of Lenzing, emphasized their new production facilities. Pointing out to the fact that their production capacity has increased by 40 percent with their new production facilities, Eichinger stated that they have set off on a new future. Stating that they have increased their production capacity to 220 thousand tons with their Jumboline used for production in the facility, Eichinger said that 70 percent and 30 percent of this figure consist of TENCEL® and nonwoven, respectively.
Answering the questions of our Magazine Group after his presentation, Eichinger said that the demand for sustainability has rapidly increased in the world and he added that Lenzing has an original manufacturing process and that they can follow the whole process. Stating that they use the beech tree as raw material, Eichinger said that the entire process is transparent and that the customers can visit the facilities when they want.
