Industrialists and Academicians Met at IITAS 2014 Symposium

The International Izmir Textile and Apparel Symposium (IITAS), organized by Ege University The Department of Textile Engineering for over 30 years by regularly, was in between 02-05 April 2014. The IITAS Symposium which takes place in Izmir every 3 years, was held in Antalya with change of date and location. The symposium was followed by Tekstil Dünyası editors in place where our publishing group attended with an info stand.Our editors exchanged informations with industry professionals about recent developments in the textile industry, Kahramanmaraş Textile Machinery Exhibition (KTM 2014) and 2nd UTZ Symposium.

To the symposium which the thirteenth was organized this year, 600 industry professionals attended from 19 countries (USA, Germany, Belgium, Britain, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Croatia, Iran, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece).

The IITAS 2014 Symposium, which started with a joint meeting,  ended with 4 parallel sessions hels between 4-5 April. Presentations at the symposium generally about he textile industry's present situation, latest developments in spinning, knitting and weaving machines, recycling and clean production technol ogies in the textile industry, technical textiles, composites, advanced finishing techniques, quality control and further analysis of test methods, fashion and quality in apparel.

IITAS 2014, which is a platform that brings together industrialists and academics, is  an important event for the textile industry. At this year's IITAS 2014, 2BFUNTEX session for functional and technical textiles was held as well.  2BFUNTEX which is an FP7 Project where Ege University Department of Textile Engineering also is the partner with European Union, by establishing collaboration between research centers, industry and academia aims to discover current potential of the functional textiles and to accelerate the functional textile materials taking place in the market. In this context, at the 2BFUNTEX session in general research results about medical textiles, textile composites, antimicrobial fabrics, nanotechnology, protective textiles and high-functional fibers were shared with participants.
