The reservations are starting for the “Ninth Turkey Home Textile Design Competititon” organized by Uludag Textile Exporters Union (UTIB) in order to impart young talents to sector and to contribute in the sectoral growth. This year 'sustainability' theme is expected to attract huge interest in the competition.
The competition which will be accepting the students of 3th and 4th grade and post graduate of related departmens such as Fine Arts, Art and Design, Faculty of Architecture and Engineering, Textile, Fashion, Fashion and Textile Design, Textile Engineering, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, Interior Architecture and Architecture; is having an only one category tatiled “Product Design Category”. This category covers products with superior aesthetic and functional qualities that can meet different needs from home textile products such as drapery, curtain systems, sofa, upholstery fabric, bathroom textiles, bedroom textiles and wall textiles.
Applications Will Be Prepared As Capsule Collection
This year, the participants will be able to apply to the competition as a capsule collection instead of a single product. Accordingly, the participants will prepare a collection of capsules containing at least 3, maximum 6 products, consisting of home textiles, and make a presentation with the layout format specified in a living space.
Preliminary registration for the competition will continue until 15th of February 2019. Those who qualify for online qualification will be announced on 4th of March, 2019. Online jury evaluation of the competition between 11th and 22nd of March, 2019, the participants will be announced on 27th of March, 2019, and the workshops will be held on 29th of April – 3th of May 2019 and final screening will be held on 6th of May, 2019. The prizes of the winners will be presented at the award ceremony to be held as a TİM organization within the scope of Design Week events.
The first prize will be 10 thousand TL, the second one will be 7 thousand and 500 TL and the third prize will be 5 thousand TL. In case the Ministry of Trade deems it appropriate, foreign education will be provided. The winners will also receive online English, internship and design registration awards.
