Followed with great interest every year in the field of man-made fibre, 52nd edition of Dornbirn Man-Made Fibre Congress (Dornbirn-Mfc) took place on 11-13 September 2013. The main themes of the event which focused on the man-made fibres of the future were listed as follows: sustainable solutions for the yarn sector, non-traditional yarn applications, finishing, sports and functional wear and market special products”. The event where our magazine, Textile World, showed up as a media partner was greatly appreciated by the participants.
The rates of participants from Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, France, Portugal and Italy increased proportionally at the 52nd edition of Dornbirn Man-Made Fibre Congress. With such national umbrella organisations as Japanese JCFA and Korean KOFOTI, new cooperation gained importance.
52nd Dornbirn Awards
In the event, 2013 Paul Schlack awards found their owners. The award was given to Stephan Walter from RWTH Aachen with his work titled “Development of piezoelectric sensor yarns on the basis of polyvinylidene-fluoride”. Honour award was given to Mr. Till Batt from ITV Denkerdoft with his work titled “Economic production of ultra thin thermoplastic yarns for filtering”.
Presentations Guiding the Participants
Mr. Yoseung Ho from Huvis firm from Seoul, Korea, made a presentation on the current situation of the man-made yarn industry as well as the developing technology.
Prof. Dr. Meike Tielebein from Denkendorf, German Management Research Center, informed participants about “New Textile Revolution – Trends and Problems in the New Start of the Textile Industry”.
General session finalized with the presentation of Mr. Ryan Young from Apparel Coalition Inc. from San Francisco, the USA, on “Higg Index and Cooperation in Clothing Sector”.
Prominent Issues for the 53rd Edition of Dornbirn
The next edition of the congress which has made a distinguished name for itself with successful presentations and sector information will be held on 10-12 September 2014. The topics to be addressed in the next edition are Yarn/Filament Innovations (Oil- and Bio-Based Fibre Raw Materials, Carbon Fibres / Others, Functionalities, Non-traditional applications, Waste Management), Non-woven materials/Filtering/ Automotive (Transport-Train-Ship-Airway), Key Technologies (Finishing, Coating, Rotating, Demolding), Market Special Products / New business models. It was emphasized that cooperation with other umbrella organisations and leading firms of the sector would be intensified.
