At the meeting, while industry representatives were becoming together, it was discussed that Fashion Prime and Fashion Tech fairs, in which yarn, fabric, ready-to-wear, apparel and confectionery sub-industry, garment machinery and printing technologies are all exhibited altogether, that will make a positive contribution to the sector and open a strong door for trade, as in previous years.
The 5th Edition Will Be Held This Year
Fashion Prime – Textile, Ready-to-Wear Suppliers and Technologies Fair, which will be held for the 5th time this year by İZFAŞ under the home ownership of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, will be held at Fuarizmir between 12-15 October 2022. The advisory board meeting of the Fashion Prime Fair was held at the Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association (EGSD). İZFAŞ General Manager Canan Karaosmanoğlu Alıcı, Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters' Association (EİB) President Burak Sertbaş, EGSD Vice Chairman of the Board Okay Şimşek, EGSD Previous Chairman of the Board Nedim Örün, EGSD Secretary General Nükhet Şenkaya, advisory board members, İZFAŞ executives and the various sector representatives attended.
Contribution to the Sector and the Urban Economy
Canan Karaosmanoğlu Alıcı, General Manager of İZFAŞ, stated that they continue their work in line with the vision of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer to develop İzmir fair and to socialize it with the world, ''Fashion Prime and Fashion Tech fairs have become the meeting point of Turkey. There are companies that have increased their business volume by participating in the fair from Istanbul and establishing very good connections, and have either moved or are in preparation of moving their production and employment power in hundreds to İzmir. With this fair, the sector wins, İzmir wins. More production you will make means more employment, more customers the sector will gain mean more exports you will make are altogether the most important gain İZFAŞ can have. In addition to all these, the most important output of the fairs is its contribution to the economy of the city and the region, its contribution to the city, and its contribution to the promotion of the city.''
Export Support
Burak Sertbaş, President of the Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters' Association (EİB) ''Fashion Prime Fair is one of our rising fairs in our region and it reflects the power of the industry in the region. We are running an organization that brings together all the stakeholders of the industry, from yarn to final product. We believe that in the coming period, it will reach a similar level with the foreign counterparts. Also, as a union, we will maintain our support to the fair. Turkey's ready-to-wear exports reached 10.8 billion dollars in the first 6 months of the year, with an increase of 8.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Our exports in the last 1-year period increased to 21.6 billion dollars. While the exports of our Aegean Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters' Association reached 781 million dollars with an increase of 13 percent in the January-June period of 2022, our exports in the last 1-year period increased to 1 billion 579 million dollars. We attach great importance to the Fashion Prime Fair in order to reach our medium-term export target of 2 billion dollars.''
The latest trends At the Fair
Okay Şimşek, Vice Chairman of EGSD Board of Directors said, ''Our aim here is to promote the fair to large masses and make it known. Another goal of ours is to bring the latest trends to consumers in order to be a sustainable fair. The more we can update these trends, the higher the success of the fair will be. In addition, as EGSD, we invite all our members, stakeholders and sector representatives to attend, visit and support this fair. Fashion Prime also contributes to the sector's catching up with the trends and even driving the trends. We want to be a pioneer in this field in Turkey'' while stating that the participants will increase their business volume with the connections they will achieve at the fair.
The Fashion Prime Fair, which aims to serve as a mediator in the establishment of commercial connections by bringing together the suppliers who produce the products sought by the fashion and ready-made clothing industry and trade these products, also aims to make a great contribution to the exports of the sector with the bilateral business meetings to be held. Manufacturers and designers will have the opportunity to come together with the participants at the Fair, where all components of the ready-made clothing industryand sectoral trends,, especially fabric types and accessories will be presented to professional visitors. Fair will also meet the needs of the sector with its fashion shows, workshops and three different “Trend areas” consisting of accessories, fabrics and ready-made clothing. In the field of manufacturing (textile manufacturers), the leading manufacturers of the ready-made clothing industry will come together with the representatives of the supplier companies. Ready-to-wear brands to be hosted at Manufacturing; will have the opportunity to share their experiences with the industry's leading professionals, from fashion designers to by-product providers. In addition to the commercial meetings, the exhibitors will present their special designs for the fair to the visitors on the podium where the fashion shows will be held.
Two Fairs on A Single Stage
Along with Fashion Prime, the first fair where all the needs of the textile industry are taken into exhibits simultaneously, in the field of textile machinery and technologies, Fashion Tech Ready-made Clothing, Apparel and Textile Machinery, Textile Printing Technologies Fair will be held in cooperation with İZFAŞ - İZGİ Fuarcılık. In addition to the machinery and technologies used in ready-made clothing and apparel production, textile machinery and textile printing technologies will also be exhibited. Different workshops and events will enrich the fairs. Visitor companies from all over Turkey, specifically from Izmir, will take part in the fairs that will take place for four days.
