"Nonwoven Innovation Academy", organized by Edana which offers a comprehensive range of services in the production of nonwovens, opened in Tourcoing, Lille Metropole-France. The project which was implemented with an investment of 15 million euro, hosted by CETI (CentreEuropéendes Tekstil Innovants), having the support of EU, France and regional authorities, is the world's largest and most flexible test facility. The academy which hosts conferences since 2006, offers research and innovation opportunity for the benefit of nonwoven, brought together academics, 500 delegates from research and testing institutes from 4 continents.Edana Innovation and Training Council Working Group President Enno Henze, expressed that the Academy which corresponds to one of the main elements of Edana Mission, might be the answer to the developments which emerged as globalization. Henze said, "The Academy, by supporting the industries about nonwoven, in the light of Nonwoven Vision 2020, was revealed as an innovation that determines the sustainability conditions. The success of Nonwoven Innovation Academy made us happy." Edana General Manager Pierre Wiertz said in his statement that, Nonwoven Innovation Academy is part of an ongoing process. Wiertz underlined that they will make an effort for the process to continue, "The exchange of ideas and research results, has a large contribution to the developments in nonwoven production and technology developments. We will try everything to extend this forum which encourages this basic understanding. To support the organizations at Geneva INDEX 14 Exhibition, we will introduce new series that has innovative features, in a short time.”
Support to Students
Among the targets that Nonwoven Innovation Academy deems important, supporting students who focus on research by choosing nonwoven related field takes place. 12 students and researchers from Europe and Asia, has benefited from grants to attend the academy and 8 of them attended to "Best Research and Innovation Posters" contest. Winners were awarded with a free attendance trip to INDEX 14 (8-11 April 2014) Exhibition in Geneva and were invited to present the researches from their field.
Edana, which assists its members to design the future, serves more than 240 companies in 36 country in nonwoven related sectors. The organization's mission is to create the basis for sustainable growth on active promotion, education and by dialogue in nonwoven-related industries.
