The 51st edition of Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers Congress- Dornbirn MFC, which is considered to be one of Europe’s most important event on man-made fibers, will be organized on September 19-21, in Austria. Those who register for the event, which will be organized in a further cooperation between Austrian Man-made Fibers Institute (AUSTRIAN-MFI) and VDA, until May 31, will be provided with various advantages. It is stated that last year, the 50th edition of Dornbirn MFC was held in a period when the changes in the fiber world were clearly noticeable and that the 51th edition focuses on the future challenges and innovations.
The topics of the congress that will be held on September 19-21, include; Mobility 2050 Trends an Scenarios that will be held by the Zukunftsinstitut Kelkheim and the Effects of a Sustainable Procurement of Textiles and Garments on the Purchase Behaviour of Consumers that will be studied by the Hochschule Niederrhein. By participating in the 51th edition as the media partner, as it has done in the previous editions, Textil Dünyası will establish a close dialogue with the man-made fiber manufacturers and the academic circles.
More than 30 presentations will be made about the innovations in the fiber sector and they will be followed by some 20 presentations on fibers and textiles for automotive sector (mobility). In addition more than 15 presentations will be made on Unconventional fiber applications, Chemical fibers for environmental protection, Fiber applications for medical sector, Nonwovens (filtration, membranes). Besides 4 presentations will be made within the framw of EU Research Projects. In Dornbirn MFC, a strong Japanese delegation, consisting of representatives from leading fiber manufacturers will present its newest developments in the various main themes. It is stated that these regional focuses will also attend the congresses of the coming years.
The findings and detections obtained in last year’s successful Dornbirn MFC, formed the basis for the 51th. Congress. In addition to monitoring the existing markets, a new way of thinking, addressing the future challenges (communication, mobility, health care, energy supply, environmental aspects) will be discussed. In addition to conveying knowledge, practical studies will be offered in the congress, where the man-made fibers’ world wil meet the lectures from academic research, industry and the processing chain.

After a history of 50 years, the congress both renewed its concept and modernized its logo. Dornbirn MFC, which launches itself as the meeting point of the international man-made fiber world, aims for more dynamics, information and innovation.
Europe has the densest network of research institutes and universities in the world in the field of man-made fibers. Therefore, the fact that the young academics and researchers have recently become more interested in the event, is considered to be another important development. A beginning meeting, where 6 students will have the opportunity to present a short version of their research work, will be held. For the first time at the event.
700 participants from 30 countries participated and made more than 100 presentations in the last year’s edition of the congress, which has been held intermittent since 1962. 15 ‘Predictors’ talked at this congress, evaluated the changes that are possible to take place in the following 10-15 years. Dornbirn, located in Vorarlberg, Austria, has a population of more than 45,000 and a dynamic structure with its geographical position, the intersection point of three countries (Austria, Germany and Switzerland).
