Countdown Starts for Intertextile Shanghai

Spring Edition of Intertextile Shanghai 2015 International Apparel Fabrics and Accessories Fair to be held by Messe Frankfurt in China on 18-20 March will bring together manufacturing firms and suppliers. The fair which hosted more than 1400 participants from 23 countries in its previous edition is expected to host more than 2000 participants with an increase of 35 %. It is also estimated that the highest number of participants will come from China again and more than 100 thousand sector representatives.

Salon Europe and Milano Unica will mark the fair

In the event to be held in the National Exhibition and Congress Centre in Shanghai, Salon Europe and Milano Unica which were the most outstanding stands in previous years will bring together the leading fabric and accessory suppliers of Europe with the local purchasers and international brands during the fair. In China where the consumers have an increase purchase power and accordingly the demand in high quality products increased, firms will exhibit their high quality products in Milano Unica and Salon Europe.

In Milano Unica where products of 120 firms will be exhibited, the latest trends will also be displayed. As for Salon Europe in which 260 participants will take part, the themes of sustainability and innovation will be highlighted. It is expected that, out of the activities to held in Salon Europe and Milano Unica, “Premium Wool” in the field of textile design and Ecotextile panel where sustainable production will be explained will draw a great deal of attention.

Country Pavilions

Besides, Japan, Pakistan, Korea, Taiwan, Portugal, Germany, France, India and Italy are included among the countries announced to open pavilions in the fair. In the fair where pavilions from Shengze, Shishi and Shaoxing regions of China and pavilion of China Fibre Manufacturers’ Association will be established, parades and shows will be organized within the scope of Japanese Fashion Week.

90 participants of the Korean Pavilion will display the traditional textile products and functional fabrics they manufacture, Korean Fashion Textile Association (KFTA) is planning to be the centre of attraction of the fair. Making an explanation in this respect, Yoon Young Sang, Vice Chairman of KFTA, stated that Korea has made a significant progress in the field of functional textiles in recent days and has an increased interest in the functional fabrics in sports, women’s and men’s wear. He added that they, thus, plan to offer the significant advantages (price-quality margin) of the functional textile products manufactured in Korea to the visitors.

 

 

In the pavilion of Taiwan which will host 50 participants, cotton, denim, embroidery, knitting, lace, polyester, spandex and wool blends manufactured by the Taiwanese participants will be displayed. Jane Fang, the Pavilion Project Manager, stated that they take part in the fair with an increasing number of participants every year and expressed that they would organise special shows with themes of sustainable fashion and functional textile.

Sustainability will stand out

Olaf Schmidt, Chairman of Messe Frankfurt Textile Fairs, stated that Intertextile Shanghai is regarded as the gate of Asian market especially by the overseas companies and thus they received an immense participation demand. Stating that textile is one of the world’s most rapidly-evolving and changing sectors, Schmidt added that functional textiles and sustainable production will come into prominence in this edition of Intertextile and the seminars to be held during the fair will focus on these issues.

Emphasizing that the issue of sustainability has gained importance especially in China, Schmidt said that China which has invested more than 200 billion US Dollars in the textile sector in the last 3 years increased its fabric production by 50 % and established about 5000 new facilities for textile production. In this respect, Schmidt added that Chinese market shaped its concept with the increase in the demand towards sustainability and innovative fibres and yarn products and the fair will direct the Asian market.
