The main sponsor of the joint meeting, which brought together the most important representatives of the paint and coating industry with a volume of 164 billion dollars, was undertaken by the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB). At the meeting, high-senior officers of 11 different associations which are actively operating in several countries such as England, America, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Germany and France marked their attendance.
In the 20th Anniversary of BOSAD, the World Coatings Council Met in Istanbul
In his opening speech, World Coatings Association Chairman of the Board of Directors Tom Bowtell said, “It is exciting to be here in Istanbul at the annual meeting of the World Coatings Council. Today, we are participating in this joint event with BOSAD. It is an extra honor to be here in Turkey, in a selective year which welcomes the 100th anniversary of the Republic and the 20th anniversary of BOSAD.’’
1.4 Billion Dollars of Exports was Achieved in 2022
BOSAD Chairman of the Board of Directors Akın said, “If we take a look at the Turkish Dyeing Market, the dyeing consumption per capita in Turkey is 11 kilograms. We are 350 manufacturers in total with 20 medium and large scale dyeing production companies. We provide workforce for nearly 300 thousand people with some of them directly and some indirectly. Besides, we achieve exports to nearly 200 countries. To highlight, we achieved an export volume of 1.4 billion dollars, which also consisted of total raw material in 2022. Russia, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Iran and Egypt are amongst the countries we export the most. In the building and construction industry, Turkey ranked fifth after England, Germany, France and Italy. When we look at electrostatic powder dyes and varnishes, we are in the top three in Europe.”
‘’Our Chemical Industry Sets Its Target to Exceed 50 Billion Dollars in 2030’’
After Akçalı’s speech, Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of İKMİB, delivered a speech. Adil Pelister started with a thankful message which was extended to the colleagues whom supported for the cities which were hit by the earthquake disaster. Pelister, in his speech, while sharing data and targets about the Turkish Chemical Industry, said, ‘’As of 2022, our chemical industry climbed up to the top with a share of 33.6 billion dollars in the total export amount of our nation which is 254 billion dollars. Today, this figure is near to 15 percent of the country's exports. In 2030, the goal of our chemical industry is to exceed 50 billion dollars.”
About the World Coatings Council
In 1992, in an attempt to improve communication and to coordinate industry policy on matters of international concern, the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (now the World Coatings Council) was formed. The council was established to ensure that the industry, in coordinating the development of policy on international issues, fully discussed and analyzed the global implications. In 2005 the council was granted NGO status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council allowing it to highlight industry issues to the UN and it’s governing body. In 2019, the name of the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC) was changed to the World Coatings Council.
For over two decades the World Coatings Council has worked to improve communication and coordinate policy on matters of international concern to the paint and printing inks industry. The council provides a forum for exchange and cooperation on major issues and priorities facing the industry, and has established itself as a global voice for the industry.

The main purpose of establishment of BOSAD; to contribute to the development of the Turkish Paint Industry, to offer contemporary and healthy products to our consumers via increasing national paint consumption, and to contribute to the current EU integration process on a sectoral basis, by winning an exporter sector image to our country’s economy.
