Hadi Karasu who was elected as 21st President of TGSD says "We will set the bar of our ready- made clothing manufacturers high in Turkey" by sharing his targets.

TGSD Revealed New Year Targets To The Sector

21st Ordinary General Assembly of Turkish Clothing Industrialists’ Association (TGSD) realized at Çırağan Palace Kempinski on 21 December 2017. As current president Şeref Fayat didn’t become a candidate, as a result of the election which was made with a single list, Hadi Karasu became 21st president of TGSD.

“Our Sector Can Be The Super Power Of The World”

Hadi Karasu who made statements about the sector after he took over the task, by emphasizing Turkey has all of the values to be the super power of the world at Turkish ready- made clothings field, says  “Our target will transfer this power to the gain. While making this, we will set the bar of Turkish ready- made clothings manufacturers high by focusing on technology and the sustainability of the sources at design.”

“USA Market Enables A Big Expansion”

Karasu who states the most important market is EU countries, maintains his words as follows; “We are carrying out 74% of our ready-made clothings export to EU countries. Protecting our position at EU is important to us. Besides, USA market must be an important target for us. Entering to this market enables us a big expansion in terms of numeral.”

“Equivalent With Bangladesh Is A Threat For Turkey”

By stating that Turkey regressed third from second among the countries EU makes import, Karasu who warns by saying “Equivalent with Pakistan and Bangladesh is a great threat for Turkey” uses the following statements; “We are supplying about 7- 8%  behind China and Bangladesh. Bangladesh and Pakistan have the position having cheap labor and are supported by EU and USA. We will share our projects with our government. We will be loadstar for our government to have brands with higher value- added and enlarge technical product export by using correct technology and strategies.”

“We Need To Extend Branded Export”

TSGD President Karasu who maintains speech by saying Turkish ready- made clothing sector needs to focus on branded export, says “Ready- made clothing sector exported 17 billion dollars of its 40 billion dollars production volume in 2017. While 40- 50 dollars value per kilogram was reached at branded export, we are at the level of 20 dollars at unbranded products. Therefore we must focus on enlarging branded export target with all of our power.”

4% Growth Is Expected In 2018

Karasu who states that the growth at the sector in 2017 caused from the domestic market which was grew 4%, says “In 2018, ready- made clothings sector will show a 3- 4% growth in real terms. Then our firms need to decide to front which products such as scale as China, fashion as Italy and technical products as Germany and Netherlands.”
