UTİB President Engin: 'Textile History Is In Our DNA'

Bursa Textile Show Fair (BURTEX) brought together textile industry representatives and foreign business professionals at Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center for the 8th time. 133 companies presented their fabric and accessory collections to the visitors at the fair, which was organized by KFA Fuarcılık, one of the affiliates of BTSO, with the support of the Ministry of Trade, KOSGEB and Uludağ Textile Exporters' Association (UTİB)

World Trends Are Determined with the Fair

More than 500 foreign buyers from more than 40 countries, especially from Russia, Spain, Italy and England, attended the Bursa Textile Show. UTİB President Pınar Taşdelen Engin, who underlined in her speech at the opening cocktail of Bursa Textile Show Fair, which has become one of the brand fairs of the sector, that the fairs have made a great contribution in placing Turkish textile’s as the decision maker in setting global trends, “This fair has been designed with a good strategy. In fact, the aim is not to organize a fair for the exhibits, but to run a fair for the companies. That's why I find it very valuable to start here. A demanded fair for the companies present was taken place that attended by the buyers. We have a textile past encoded in our DNA and existed in our culture. The textile industry is so well located in Bursa that we are in a city where all stages of the supply chain are produced. The Turkish textile industry is the one that makes incredibly fast decisions and takes quick action. I hope that our fair will be good for our industry.”

Special Designs of Turkish Textiles Exhibited in Fashion Show

At the 'Turkish Textile Network (TTN) Natureverse Reflect Vol.1' event held on the evening of the fair, clothes produced entirely by TTN member companies at every stage, from yarn to fabric, from design to finished product, were all presented to the appreciation of local and foreign buyers. Stating that the change experienced after the pandemic has witnessed a radical evolution in the textile sector, as in all other sectors, UTİB Chairman of the Board Pınar Taşdelen Engin said, “The textile sector has undergone a great evolution in order to keep up with the constant change in the world. Our industry has adapted quickly and firmly to this digital and ecological transformation. We put the issues of sustainability, green economy and digitalization at the top of the agenda and worked tirelessly on them. Textile is the historical expertise of Bursa. That's why the industry in our city has evolved to include products from all steps of the supply chain. Our wide range of fabrics and garments, each of which emerged from various yarns produced in our region, touched the whole world. As UTİB, our biggest goal is to introduce these respected and admired products to the whole world.”

“BURTEX is an Important Platform for Collaborations”

Emphasizing that the fairs have a great contribution to the marketing of Turkish textile to the world markets, President Engin said, “I believe that BURTEX, which brings together buyers from more than 40 countries with the leading companies of our textile industry, will be an important platform for very beneficial cooperation. We have proven many times to the whole world that we are a reliable and sought-after supplier country. One of the biggest forces behind all these successful works is our ability to integrate the R&D, innovation and design culture into our industry, which enables us to reach the standards of developed countries. In doing so, we both make our exports sustainable and continue to increase the share of sustainable products. We will not give up operating with our entire ecosystem to solidify the strong position the Turkish textile and apparel industries that they deserve in the world.’’

"We Lead Our Country's Foreign Trade"

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Assembly President Ali Uğur also stated that the Turkish textile and apparel industry is one of the biggest and most important industries in the world in terms of production and workforce, and said, “Turkey, which is the leading country in its region with its production and export expertise, is today amongst the world's top 5 textile manufacturer and exporter. Our industry produces products in our country that will compete in global markets with an approach that putting R&D, design and innovation at the core of its focus. The sector, which creates employment for approximately 1 million people, at the same time, leads Turkey's foreign trade with an export figure exceeding 30 billion dollars. I heartily congratulate all our industry dynamics, who are the architects of this success. As Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we will continue our technology-oriented works and raise the bar of our sector even more during our journey to become a city of Bursa with strong economy that keeps up with the present day challenges.’’
