İstanbul Textile and Its Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHiB) rewarded the members that recorded the highest rate of exports. ITHIB Board Chairman İsmail Gülle made the opening speech of the award ceremony and drew attention on the importance of rewarding the successful members for stability and said: “If we do not set big goals the steps we take will be small. We do not have an option of continuing with smaller steps. Our sector recorded 10 billion dollars of exports in 2017. We will increase our export rates up to 12 billion dollars in 2018.” Gülle pointed out that the textile sector will not stop operating in Turkey and completed his speech as follows: “This sector made 74 thousand dollar worth of exports in every minute of 2017. If we develop the industry 4.0 with export 4.0 we can achieve to have a ‘Turkey with a foreign trade surplus’.”
‘The Textile Sector Will Never End’
The Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci participated in the Stars of Export Award Ceremony and drew attention on the importance of exports for the development of Turkey. He reminded of that the textile sector is the first one that took the first step for export mobilization in the past and said: “The textile sector in Turkey will never end. It will continue in Turkey through developments.” Zeybekci also drew attention on e-commerce trend which is becoming more popular every day, and said: “Every year, e-commerce of electronics increases by 15% compared with the previous year. Approximately in five years, 40% of the world commerce will turn into e-commerce.” Zeybekci also said that the textile and ready-to-wear sector will be taken into investment incentives program of the government.
Export Leaders of the Textile Sector Are Rewarded
After the opening speech, firms that became the most successful exporters of 2017 in textile and its raw materials sector were rewarded. 36 firms received platinum plates, 58 firms golden plates and three firms were rewarded with special rewards. Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayi took the first place for export performance and was followed by Ak-Pa Tekstil İhracat Pazarlama AŞ, Kordsa Teknik Tekstil A.Ş, Zorlu Dış Ticaret A.Ş and Zorluteks Tekstil Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş. Kadifeteks received an award for making exports to the highest number of countries; while Roja Brode Sanayi took an award for producing the highest added value and S3 İplik Sanayi received an award for increasing its export rates the most.
