Industry representatives and the leaders leading the city came together at the “Investment Opportunities and Promotion Days in Van Textile-Ready Wear” event organized with the cooperation of Fashion and Ready Wear Federation and Van Trade and Industry Chamber (VANTSO) on 22-24 September 2017.
Mr.Hüseyin Öztürk, Chairman of MHGF gave a speech at the opening ceremony held at VANTSO and noted that they decided to organize promotion meetings in one city in each five regions after the government’s announcement of “Attraction Centers Programme” and added that they realized the first meeting in Iğdır. Öztürk told that they defined Van as the second stop within these meetings in terms of the city’s young population, its infrastructure, its historic background and the fact that it is an important production and trade centers as it is the border gate to Middle East’s biggest market, Iran. Chairman of MHGF, Mr.Öztürk informed about their aims regarding the program as follows: “Besides the support to be given by the Government, we came to Van so as to use the region’s sources more efficiently. We are here to discuss with the opinion leaders and enable the city to talk with itself and be aware of the opportunities and treats. Our aim is to direct the manufacturing of standard products in ready wear industry, which offers high employment with low investment cost, to our cities located in East and South-East and then contribute to the development of these regions. The remedy of high unemployment rates in Van is ready wear. Thus, we can create cities expertized in certain products in ready wear and cooperating with each other in an integrated way both in Anatolia by enabling them to focus on R&D production and value-added manufacturing.”
“Van is An Attraction Center For Iran”
Chairman of MHGF informed that Van is an attraction center for Iran and added that Iran imports 70% of its ready wear needs equivalent to 80 million dollars and that most of it is supplied by Turkey. Chairman of VANTSO, Mr.Necdet Takva expressed that they are proud and honored to host the organization and added that it is meaningful for MHGF to choose Van for the workshop. Takva pointed out that successful results can be achieved with realistic approaches and solution-focused planning of Attraction Centers Program and noted: “Our city in one of the four cities having the youngest population and the age average is 20. This is especially an important resource and potential for textile which requires intensive labor. The unemployment rate of Turkey is around 11% and in Van it is triple as 35%. We are aware that textile is an important investment field and industry for Van in terms of making use of this young population”, he said. On the second day of the organization, the committee consisting of businessmen and local press members made evaluations in Van Central Organized Industrial Region and Van Tekstilkent and within the activity program had sightseeing in historical places of Van.
