At the Widened Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors which was carried out by Turkish Textile Machinery Industrialists’ Association (TEMSAD), the workshop which will be organized in USA on October and ITMA were approached by evaluating the years of 2014 and 2015. While the President of TEMSAD, Adil Nalbant carried out a presentation at the dinner by evaluating 2014 numbers, General Coordinator of the Association, Ricahard Dalvatore gave information for the members about the workshop which will be carried out in USA.
Adil Nalbant stated that 2015 is an important year for whole world and they participated to ITMA which is organized once in 4 years with 138 participants on a 7.500 square meter area and also stated that we are at the third country position which has the most participants. Nalbant said ‘’ Machinery manufacturers which has less participants than us carry out more manufacture than us. The most important reason of this is scale factor and technology differences’’. Nalbant also said that as being Turkish textile machinery manufacturers they cannot manufacture more complicated weaving and spinning machines and indicated that correct planning must be done to remove this case. Stating that home machinery needs to be developed and preferred in order to reduce foreign machinery usage Nalbant also said ‘’ Turkish textile machinery manufacturers carried out the biggest sale to Turkish textile manufacturers in ITMA in 2011. Probably the same thing will repeat in 2015 as well’’.
We have to get rid of foreign- source dependence and contract manufacturing
Nalbant who underlined that Turkey is a textile country also said textile machinery investments will be done in any period even in crisis periods and kept on his words ‘’ Turkish textile sector needs to get rid of the image of foreign- source dependence and contract manufacturing. And for this, developing all technologies which are used at manufacture and production, that’s to say usage of our own sources is a must. In 2014, our capacity usage 75% and our export was carried out 157 billon dollars. To reach our 500 billion dollars export target for 2023, we have to increase our industry investments threefold. Industry means production, namely it means machine and technology. While staying dependent to foreign- sources that much from simple machine tool to knitting and spinning machines, our industry is impossible to go further’’.
Nalbant who said that every year more than 30 billion dollar machinery export is carried out for machinery industry which is the second export item after energy also stated the countries which they import gives important supports and said the supports and the financings which they take from their countries are better than us. As they don’t experience the troubles we have, they can easily sell their machines to us. On the contrary, we have directors who see the taxes taken from import as an advantage’’. Nalbant said that they look at future in hope and stated that they need government’s support to be better.
American Workshop
Ricahard Salvatore gave information about the workshop which they will organize as TEMSAD between the dates 5 -9 October in Charlotte that is places between Northern and Southern Caroline which is the most intense cluster happens of USA. Salvatore who stated that this event will be organized just before ITMA in USA which is one of the biggest machinery exporters, also stated that the event is limited with just 20 firms and 15 firms have already now participated. Salvatore saying that they carry out this organization with the incentive of government, said one public relations company in USA undertook the promotional activities and told ‘’ We will introduce the advantages of Turkish machinery to American textile sector’’.
