Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association (EDDMİB) increased its total exports by 24 percent from $ 25.6 million to $ 31.8 million in the January-February period of 2020. EDDMİB was the leader in exports amongst 12 exporters 'associations within the Aegean Exporters' Associations with a 24 percent export growth rate.
Benefits of the Participation to the Fairs in Italy and Russia
Garda Fair in Italy, ranked within the first three countries Turkey realize its’ leather and manufacture of leather exports, while in Russia EUROSHOES Fair, Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association see the fruits of their work during the presentations of these fairs.
Expressing that the leather and manufacture of leather industry do more work on exports after the contraction in the domestic market in 2019, Ege Leather and Leather Products Exporters Union President Erkan Zandar noted that the overall efforts of the companies in the leather sector started to enjoy the benefits. Noting that the exports of leather and manufacture of leather from the Aegean Region reached 31 million 814 thousand dollars with an increase of 24 percent in the January-February period of 2020, Zandar said, “Our shoe industry has increased the most in exports after the recent economic crisis. Our shoe exports rose by 33 percent from $ 15.8 million to $ 21.1 million. We achieved 2 dollars in every 3 dollars of foreign currency return in the leather industry thanks to shoe exports. Our exports of leather were 4.5 million dollars, and the export of our saddlery sector was 3.2 million dollars, while our exports of leather garments were 3.1 million dollars.’’
Aegean Leather Manufacturers Export to 78 Countries
While Aegean leather exporters managed to export to 78 countries in January-February of 2020, Germany was at the top with an export of 5.3 million dollars. While the Russian Federation preferred 2.4 million dollars of Turkish leather and manufacture of leather, Italy followed these countries with 2 million dollar worth of exports.
