The 10th R&D Project Market Summit co-organised by Uludağ Textile Exporters' Association (UTİB), Bursa Trade and Industry Chamber (BTSO) and Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA) awards special studies for the purpose of supporting R&D studies for textiles and apparel sectors.
In 16 categories consisting of technical textiles and composites for vehicles, aerospace and defense technical textiles, fiber polymer, prototype, doctorate thesis, master thesis, undergraduate thesis, functional textiles doctorate, functional textiles masters, functional textiles undergraduate, smart textiles doctorate, smart textiles undergraduate, research centres, vocational colleges, vocational high schools, fiber and polymer researches, 23 persons are awarded TRY 74.000 under UTİB R&D Project Market initiative.
"We Have A High Prestige In The Global Market"
Pınar Taşdelen Engin, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of UTİB, who delivered the opening speech of the event emphasizes the textile sector is one of the locomotives of the Turkish economy thanks to the added value and performance it has achieved. "The importance of the textile sector is increasing every day since it is the sector where the the number of employments is the highest. Besides, we are a leader in exporting in our country, having foreign trade surplus of more than 13 billion dollar annually. We see that the potential of the Turkish textile sector is very high, particularly in terms of value-added production. We also hold a high prestige in global market, too", says Engin.
"That the textile sector has increased by 13% and 10% in the first months of 2018, reaching nearly 700 million dollar worth exports, gave us some hopes to achieve our goals. While the value of overall Turkish export is worth 1.25 per kilogram, this figure raises up to 4.5 for textile sector. Considering the export of UTİB, we see that it has increased over $ 8.5 in the first two months. In summary, there is no doubt we have made a swift start to 2018", comments Engin.
"Turkish Export Potential Over 25 Billion Dollar"
"Turkey is currently the world's 7th largest textile exporter. It also emerges as the biggest textile manufacturers in Europe. Today, our country has a potential of 25 billion dollar worth exporting volume realised in textiles and apparel", concludes Engin, suggesting Turkish textile products are used in many countries around the world,
