Global War with Copycat Machines
UCMTF, supporting the machines which have undergone a busy period during ITMA ASIA,arranged a press invitation and met with industrial world. Bruno Ameline, President of the Association, and Evelyne Cholet, the General Secretary, both made some evaluations on the fair and provided some explanations about copycat machine production and the fight against it.
Evelyne Cholet, saying that customers’ many projects have finalized many projects and, as their orders backlog is already good, delivery time is increasing for all the machinery producers. She stated; “Customers, from China of course, but also from India, Pakistan, Thailand and Iran visited our booths, they were particularly interested by our new technologies”. ınforming that some manufacturers were particularly enthusiastic about future business in India, where the textile industry needs an urgent modernization even though the implementation of the Technology
Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) put in place by the Indian government is going through some delays. Cholet also implied that some delays are noticed in Middle Eastern countries due to the political turmoils which took place.
Arguing that their customers have a real willingness to invest for the future of their own companies, Cholet stated; “They are aiming at new markets, new products, and resource efficient production processes which bring raw materials and energy savings, and they know they can rely on us to be their technology partners in many sectors”.
Pointing out the European machine manifacturers’ being copied in terms of the technologies they developed, which is an initial problem, Bruno Ameline, President of UCMTF, said that this is a “global war”. Ameline implied; “We fight and will continue to fight all over the world because our strategy is based on Research and Development, on technology breakthroughs and on protecting our patents, brands or any other intellectual rights.”
Ameline, reporting that the fight against copycats which is part of the international trade agreements is given more and more support by the governments and the judicial systems, continued; “In China, for example, some very positive judgments have given our members significant damages for infringement by unfair competitors and some of these have even been sentenced to jail”.
Emphasizing that infringements in terms of patent rights has been seen again in ITMA ASIA CITME fair, Ameline reminded that this machines, which were determined to have infringed, were covered thoroughout the fair. Ameline added that ITMA fairs are also helping the machinery manufacturers fpr protecting the attenders’ patents and preventing unfair competition.
Huge Attention in ITMA ASIA CITME
French machinery manifacturers have directed their intense activities on China and Asia regions, which constitute their biggest markets, in 2012. UCMTF members that attended in ITMA ASIA CITMA fair in June is listed as such; NSC Fibre to Yarn, Laroche, Verdol, AESA, Superba, Fil Kontrol, Dollfus & Muller and Staubli. The firms met their visitors on their booths in saloons W3, W2, E2 and E3.
The firms, exhibiting traditional and technical applications in yarn twisting field with advanced technology on their booths, attracted a big deal of attention with their heat setting processes which contribute new functions to yarns, especially to carpet industry. Jacquard machines and developments in draught increase production speed, reduce water and energy consumption and guarantee production quality. While water and energy saving Technologies came forward with regarda to dyeing technologies, new developments in nonwoven segment were shared with the customers.
