Growth Trend in Ready-to-Wear Sector Continues

At the Ready-to-Wear Technology Skill Competition which is organized by Istanbul Ready-to-Wear Exporters Association for the first time this year, students presented their designs. Students that won IHKIB’s Ready-to-Wear Technology Skill Competition received their prizes from IHKIB managers. IHKIB President Hikmet Tanrıverdi spoke at the award ceremony of the competition and emphasized that Turkish Ready-to-Wear and Textile sector will break a record in exports with its designing skills.

19 Billion Dollar Export Record in Ready-To-Wear Sector

Hikmet Tanrıverdi said that ready-to-wear and textile exports in the first two months of 2018 increased by 12,3% compared to the same time period of the previous year and also stated that they will break a record in 2018 by reaching 19 billion dollar of exports through designing.

Tanrıverdi shared his expectations on 2018 and said: “If we do not get through a big misfortune, we predict that the current growth trend will continue and we will close 2018 with approximately 19 billion dollar of exports. We got the highest export income in 2014 by 18,7 billion dollar. Probably this year we will perform better and accomplished to get the highest export rate that we ever had. We will break a record by reaching our goal of 19 billion dollar of exports in 2018 through designing.”

Tanrıverdi stated that Turkish ready-to-wear industry is different from the rest with its capability of fast mobility and qualified works and in order to protect this advantage it is very important to have qualified workforce. Tanrıverdi said that IHKIB cares about education a lot and graduated almost 6 thousand students from vocational high schools. He said: “We see every young individual that we graduated from vocational high schools as a value that we included in the sector. Through IHKIB schools we raise education, knowledge, modernity for 27 years and get welfare and public peace. We are proud of our schools and students. We know that if ready-to-wear sector contributes our country by 14 billion dollar of foreign currency, it is accomplished by the help of our graduates.”

“Producing With Original Designs in the Sector Is Compulsory”

Turkey Exporters Assembly President Mehmet Büyükekşi spoke at the award ceremony and emphasized that the road to increase the rate of exports passes through added value production and paid attention to designing in production. Büyükekşi stated that Turkey is one of the prominent countries in the world in ready-to-wear sector and emphasized the necessity of design, innovation, Re&De and branding in the production process. Büyükekşi said: “Our goal is to explain these four concepts to all the branches of society.”
