African Cotton and Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF) became the new member of International Apparel Federation. ACTIF consisting of textile manufacturers of 24 African countries strives at modernizing the sector which makes production in traditional style and creating awareness in African cotton manufacturers.
The authorities of ACTIF emphasized the importance of integration with the world in order to ensure international competition in an environment where it is expected that textile sector production which has switched to such countries as Thailand, Taiwan and Myanmar where labour costs are low from China will switch to Africa in the ensuing 10 years, they expressed that they try to introduce the potential of Africa to the world.
Stating that the technology and knowledge that African cotton manufacturers need should be improved in order to pave the way for wider usage of African cotton in the global textile sector, the authorities of ACTIF added that the cotton manufactured in this manner could be used by the manufacturers throughout the world.
USA and EU Collaboration
After co-operation establishing with ACTIF(African Cotton & Textile Industries Federation), the International Apparel Federation that has wider cooperation in the textile industry in the international arena to establish business relations, is going to establish collaboration with EU(European Union) textile manufacturers.
International Apparel Federation, which wants to establish more communication and cooperation between the United States and the European Union, came together for the aim of increasing market opportunities in both countries.
The first meeting where met brands, retailers, manufacturers, test laboratories, law firms from both the European Union and USA, took place in November. In the first meeting, trade compliance policies and issues such as mutual cooperation agreement has been brought to the agenda. As a result of meetings which can be followed from internet, by devoloping the Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Pacific connections, the European textile producers will ensure benefit.
