German technology in CISMA 2013, Shanghai

''In terms of ready-to-wear production, China is the most important region in the world.''

Germany's leading manufacturers of textile machinery such as Dürkopp Adler, Groz-Beckert, KSL-Keilmann, Pfaff, Schmetz, Topcut-Bullmer and Veit set up their stands for the fair in Shanghai. CISMA 2013 which is Asia's largest fair was held in Shanghai last month. Günter Veit, who is Executive Vice President of VDMA Garment and Leather Technology and Ceo of VeitGroup, said: ''In terms of ready-to-wear production, China is still the most important region in the world. On the other hand, rising production costs demands integration with automation.  Here, German technology manufacturers are pioneering to meet these demands with appropriate solutions exhibited in CISMA.

German garment machinery export is increasing

It was stated that the reasons of German technology manufacturers' success in sewing and garment machinery sales all around the world are high-quality and high efficiency products. However, increasing prices and production troubles force enterprises to steer their production into South and South Asia. As suppliers of high-tech machines, the German manufacturers continue to offer innovative solutions in competitive market which is always a need of customers.

Veit continued his speech as follows: ''In addition to economizing, innovative production technologies, high quality standards; the energy efficiency is also one of the key factors of German technology suppliers' success all around the world. In 2012, German sewing and garment machinery manufacturers reported an export volume of 406 million Euros with an increase of 5.7% compared to the previous year.  This development made Germany third following China and Japan in the ranking the world leading producer of clothing and apparel machinery. In 2012, the main buyers of German sewing and garment machines are the USA, Turkey and China The USA has surpassed Turkey by ranking first in this field.’’.

Sustainability of sewing and garment machines

Emphasizing  that  the importance of sustainability is increasing  for  technical textiles manufacturers and garment industry because of the ecological and economic reasons, Veit stated: '' The increased awareness with the need of resource protection, increase the productivity and  observe the corporate social responsibility are challenges to the industry which must be taken into account. In order to cope with this development, VDMA established Blue Competence Initiative (Blue Competence Initiative), sustainable innovative mechanical engineering industry.  In CISMA, sewing and garment manufacturers demonstrated how the energy can be used more efficient with leading technology, how to increase the competitiveness while reducing the cost of resources in the context of Blue Competence.
