Textile and garment investors from all corners of Turkey will take part in Van Textile-Garment Investment Opportunities and Promotion Days to be held by Fashion and Garment Federation on 22-24 September 2017.
The second step of the Attraction Centers Promotion Program launched by the Federation in Iğdır in May this year will be organized in Van. Within the scope of the project launched by the government to promote 23 cities in Eastern and South-Eastern Anatolia as attraction centers to the textile and garment investors, Van Textile and Garment Investment Opportunities and Promotion Days will be held on 22-24 September 2017 with the cooperation of Van Trade and Industry Chamber. With the program, which will gather the textile and garment investors, managers of NGOs of the sector, representatives of chain stores, academicians, suppliers and national press members, potential of Van will be examined on site.
“Remedy of Unemployment is Garment”
Chairperson of Federation Öztürk stated that Van is an investment center, which stands out with the border trade in the Eastern Anatolia region and has young and dynamic labour force, and added that “Van is also a city which has past and experience in garment sector and has a significant infrastructure in the field”. Emphasizing that their primary objective is to increase fruitful garment investments in the regions, which have relatively less developed economies, and higher unemployment rates, Öztürk said that, “Garment sector with its low investment costs is the key to fast development. We think that garment investments will be the correct solution for Van where unemployment is a significant problem”.
“Production of Standard Products Should Not Continue in Big Cities”
Reminding that the second important target of this project is to shift the production of standard products to these regions and to allow the sector to focus on R&D focused, innovative and value added products by relieving the sector trapped in big cities, Chairperson Öztürk added that, “We want to announce pilot regions in certain products by analysing the potentials of the Attraction Centre cities and create clusters completing one another in production by ensuring integration with neighbouring cities”.
Starting with the opening speeches at 10.30 on 22 September 2017 at the Van Trade and Industry Chamber, the program will continue with two panels in the afternoon session. On the second day, the delegation will conduct inspections in the Van Organized Industry Zone and Tekstilkent and the last day of the program will be devoted to a social program covering Van Castle, Akdamar Church and Van Lake.
