İstanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İTHİB) awarded its members at the traditional evening it organized who carried out the most export in 2016. At ‘National Power Textile Exporters Award Ceremony’ organized, ‘Special Award’ category took place for the first time this year.
At special award category, Roja Brode Sanayi with 120 dollars of export per kilogram, Kadifeteks Mensucat and YKK Metal which exported to the most countries in 74 countries and AYT Kumaşçılık which carried out textile export to Gabon in Africa where it is never been exported previous year received their awards. First of Platin Awards which is given to the ones who carries out 25 million dollars and above of export became Aksa Akrilik. And İleri Giyim came first at the category making 10- 25 million dollars of export.
Mehmet Büyükekşi who is the President of Turkish Exporters Assembly, Erdal Bahçıvan who is the President of İstanbul the Chamber of Industry, Abdulkadir Konukoğlu who is the TOBB Turkish Textile Industry Assembly, Ahmet Çalık who is the Chairman of the Board of Çalık Holding, Olgun Zorlu who is the Member of the Board of Zorlu Holding as well as the presidents of exporters associations and many name from the business world attended to the event.
İTHİB Declared Its Targets For Next 10 Years
İsmail Gülle, President of İTHİB, said in his speech the following “Textile sector will manufacture textiles smart fabrics, fabrics knitted from carbon fiber to be used at the constructions and textile for automobiles. We will found more R&D centers for this. For last three years, we have tripled export unit value and there isn’t any handicap for us not to be able to triple within the next 10 years once again”. Mr. Gülle highlighted that despite the decline at Turkish export due to the incidents in 2016, textile sector has protected its export.
Mr. Gülle who reminded the Turkey’s 2023, 2050 and 2071 targets, said “We say ‘Turkish Exporters are the National Power’. We are the basis of the wealth of this country”.
“Each Exporter With Green Passport Is An Ambassador”
Mr. Gülle who states that an exporter have nothing to do with war, conflict, hostility, hatred, discrimination and polarization, also says “We want the value we sell properly and give contribution to the welfare of humanity and peace and unity of our nation and the government”. Mr. Gülle maintains his words as follows “We will cross the limits with the green passports. Up to me, each exporter with a green passport is an ambassador. Exporters are the ambassadors who tell the wealth and the power of Turkey to the world and take our peace intention to where they go.”
Green Passport Gospel For Exporters
Mehmet Büyükekşi, President of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), who attended the event and stated that that they have been bringing up the issue for exporters to be given green passport for 15 years said “We believed in you while announcing 2017 as the Year of Breakthrough. Our government had important supports as well. Green passport issue had been brought up for 15 years. By now, 3 thousands of our exporters were given green passport. We will give 14 thousands of green passport in total".
Mr. Büyükekşi requested exporters to open R&D and design centers by taking support. Mr. Büyükekşi who told that 67 thousand exporters needed to do their best for 2023 target, recorded that each firm needed to put a target for 2023.
After speeches, award ceremony was carried out. While YKK Metal and Kadifeteks Mensucat took the Firm Award carrying out the most export for countries at the firms category which were given special award, Roja Brode Sanayi took the Award of Manufacturing The Most Value- Added Products.
AYT Kumaşçılık was given the award of carrying out the textile export to the country where any export was done.
