Awards for 91 Export Leader Firms by İTHİB

Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İTHİB) awarded the successful firms that made the most export in 2015. In the night turning into a sectoral summit with the participation of textile’s doyen names, 36 firms were presented with Platin and 55 firms were presented with Gold Prizes. To the night that İsmail Gülle who is the Chairman of the Board of İTHİB and the Members of the Boars hosted, the Deputy Minister of Economy Fatih Metin, the President of Turkish Exporters’ Council (TİM) Mehmet Büyükekşi and the presidents of many associations and the representatives from textile and business world.

In the night of the price of successful exporters, the demonstration of the documentary film named “The Music of the Industry by the Doyens of Textile” prepared by İTHİB and 14 industrialists’ memories and opinions were shared for the fidelity for the doyen names of textile sector was done. The names which was also collected into a book composed of Abdülkadir Konukoğlu, Ahmet Nazif Zorlu, Ahmet Topbaş, Atilla Alptekin, Erol Gülen, Esat Sivri, Halit Narin, Hasan Bilici, Hanifi Öksüz, Mehmet Balduk, Mustafa Kıvanç, Ömer Dinçkök, Şevket Sürek and Zekeriya Tanrıverdi. The doyen names of the sector were presented with plaques.

“Textile Will Continue to be the Locomotive Sector of Economy”

İsmail Gülle who underlined that the evaluation on Turkey to leave textile sector which he made in the past made the sector sad “In this period where Turkish economy has closed to 2023 targets step by step, our textile sector is working devotedly. We contribute to production, export and employment. We believe the sector which creates value- added for the country economy needs to be respected much more.”

Gülle who stood out that as long as humanity existed in the whole world, textile sector would continue for production, said “Textile will continue to be the locomotive sector of Turkish economy. We are moving on our way with this understanding by making self- sacrifices. The sound of our plants and the operation of the machines are making us peaceful.”

Mehmet Büyükekşi who is the President of TİM remarks that the sector which creates employment most after food and ready- made clothings is textile. Büyükekşi who states that textile is the sixth sector making the most export, says “2023 target of our textile sector is 20 billion dollars. R&D, innovation, branding and design which are the four main component to create high value- added are carrying great importance.”

Supports for New Brands at Textile Sector are on the Way

Deputy Minister of Economy, Fatih Metin who talked on the award ceremony, by stating that textile sector is the apple of Turkish economy’s eye, said, “Turkey doesn’t have a possibility to leave textile sector. Textile is the locomotive of Turkish industry and development. Supporting of such a sector and carrying it to further is our task. We adopted important support models to increase value- added at the sector and we will announce the new ones very soon. Our new brand support are on the way. We will take the decisions together to remediate for the sector.”
