Export Volume of Italian Machine Manufacturers in India Declines
Demand of India towards the textile machines primarily meets the traditional textile need. However, demand in special-purpose production for developing technical and innovative textiles also increases. Being among the sectors receiving the highest amounts of investment, the filtration and geotextile segments also continue growing. Filtration sector is growing in India by 17-18 % annually. India is known as the second biggest textile machines market of the world with its machines import of 1,7 billion euros. Technology purchases made with the government support contribute to the development of domestic textile sector.
Italian manufacturers meet about 10 % of the textile machines import volume of India. In 2011, while the machines export of Italia to India reached 123 million euros with an increase of 19 % in comparison to the previous year, regression in 2012 was followed carefully by the actors of the sector. In the first half of 2012, Italian export figures saw a sales loss of 58 million euros with a decline of 24 % according to the data concerning the same period of the previous year. Due to this decline, Italian manufacturers are trying to leşsen the effect of this loss. While these efforts bring success, Italian textile technologies have acquired shares of 42 % and 21 % in India’s yarn spinning and finishing sectors, respectively.
