Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) has declared its work of 500 Biggest Industry Corporations and the second 500-2014. There has been 48 companies in its top 500 list which has been published for 47 years and, another 72 textile and garment companies in the second 500 list. Textile and garment companies that are mostly located in Istanbul, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras comprise10% of the list.
One of the biggest role players for Turkey to reach the goal of 500 billion dollar export figure in 2023, the textile and garment industry has an export volume of 28 billion dollar in 2014. While 48 companies in the list of ISO had an export volume of 63.3 billion dollar in 2013, this figure fell to 61.3 billion dollar in 2014. The share of the industry within the top 500 export of ISO has been 5.8 percent with an amount of 3 billion 528 million dollar.
In the list of second top 500 in 2014, ATK Tekstil became the second biggest company with an export amount of 103 million dollar. Companies at the list of top 500 have created an employment figure with 639.680 people and, 13.3% of this figure comes from textile industry with a number of 85.236 people. Within the 139.5 billion TL financial liability of the companies in the top 500 in 2014, the share of textile and garment industry has been 12 billion TL at a level of 8.6%.
