The certificate ceremony of the first graduates of the program was attended by Chairman of the Board of Uludağ Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Association Nüvit Gündemir, Bursa Uludağ University Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz, Bursa Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Ahmet Alireisoğlu, BUÜ TBMYO Director, Design Department Head Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan, Istanbul Fashion Academy Chairman of the Board Jale Tunçel, and by instructors and students.
“We Are One of the Strongest Sectors in Turkey”
While speaking at the opening of the Pattern Development Certificate Program in Fashion Design Technologies, UHKİB Chairman of the Board of Directors Nüvit Gündemir stated that the instructors appointed by IMA carried out a training program of 1080 hours in total for 17 students in the first semester and said, “After these trainings, some of our students were employed by our companies before they graduated. Some of our students continue to have meetings with companies. We are very happy to achieve this result. Our Textile and Apparel sector is the third largest exporting sector of our country with a total export of more than 30 billion dollars. The industry is Turkey's leading sector in this field, releasing a foreign trade surplus of approximately 20 billion dollars annually. If we look at the global figures of our industry, there was a turnover of 1.7 trillion dollars in the fashion industry in 2023 and 100 million workforce employed in this sector. The amount of clothing products purchased per capita increased by 60 percent between 2000 and 2014."
“İMA's Contributions to the Sector Continually Increasing”
Istanbul Fashion Academy (İMA) Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jale Tunçel, said; “About 3 years ago, during our meetings with our UHKİB President, Mr. Nüvit Gündemir, the idea of implementing this program in Bursa was born. Currently, with its over 20 thousand graduates, its partnership protocol with the London College of Fashion and its second project from the European Union, IMA has both strengthened its contributions to digital transformation and taken its contributions to the industry even further."
Following the speeches, certificates were presented to those whom participated in the 'Pattern Development Training Program in Fashion Design Technologies.’ Following the certificate ceremony, our participants were invited to our students' graduation project exhibition. During the exhibition, our students presented in front of their works and described relevant techniques and methods to the visitors about the works crafted by them.
