With the cooperation of Uludağ Textile Exporters Association (UTİB) and Ready-made Clothing, Apparel and Textile Exporters Associations from different regions of Turkey, TİM coordination and T.C. Ministry of Commerce, a visit was conducted to Yeşim Group within the scope of the Athleisure Challenge Active Wear Design Competition. 38 students from the textile engineering and fashion design departments of 20 different universities were guests of Yeşim in the special program which hosted by Yeşim Group Board Member Mustafa Demiralay and inwhich UTİB President Pınar Taşdelen Engin was also present.
While delivering a speech at the opening of the event held in the Grand Conference Hall, Mustafa Demiralay stated that students will have the chance to observe the reality of the production stages involved in theory within the scope of the program, on site at Yeşim. Demiralay stated that there will be an opportunity to monitor the processes under scrutiny while during their operation in the industrial field and said, “It will be extremely productive to get on-site information about how the functioning of a larger system with more employees is progressing. We will reinforce our knowledge with our technical trip. I wish everyone a productive day in advance.”
"You Need to Touch the Society and the World"
While delivering a speech following Demiralay, Yeşim Group Social Compliance Manager Ahmet Öztürk informed the participants about Yeşim's sustainability approach. While underlining that the concept of sustainability for Yeşim which matches sustainability in production, sustainability in people and sustainability in the world, Öztürk said, “These concepts are an integral part of each other. Every piece is carrying a huge importance to us. Therefore, you need to do your work for each piece and touch the society and the world with these works.” Öztürk continued; “On the other hand, we are one of the first exemplary companies to receive the SA-8000 certificate, which is one of the most challenging, most comprehensive and most detailed programs to obtain in the social compliance process. In this respect, we provide consultancy to many companies in the industry regarding social compliance standards and share our work with them. Yeşim continues its leading role in the sector in this respect.” The program ended with a technical tour in the production areas following Öztürk's presentation.
