The target for 2023 is 4 billion dollars
Expressing that their target for 2013 as association is 1, 4 billion dollars, Chairman of UTIB, İbrahim Burkay explained the export target for 2023 as 4 billion dollars. Burkay stated that: “If we want to reach 2023 targets as the whole country, we should position ourselves according to the economic dynamics changing in the world. Our orientation towards alternative markets following the shrinkage experienced in the EU economies sets a important model for this positioning. As country, the share of our export to EU countries in the last 5 years, in particular, decreased considerably. Althouh our export volume to EU decreased with orientation towards alternative markets, we continued increasing our export share in total. Being the most important market of the sector for years, Europe Union was replaced by alternative markets in terms of importance.” He also emphasized that Turkey can not proceed with its historical export amounts and should turn into a country which integrates technology into its production systems and exports technologies.
