60 billion dollars of export target in 2023 of ready- made clothings sector manufacturers has carried employment potential to the higher levels. ‘Textile Engineering Students’ Career Days’ organized jointly by Turkish Clothing Industrialists’ Association (TGSD) and Istanbul Technical University Textile Technologies and Design Faculty offered new opportunities for the young people on work opportunities issues by gathering newly graduates and company executives. Şeref Fayat, the President of TGSD, who talked at the opening ceremony of the organization, by highlighting that the sector would create new employment possibility for 3 million people including 1 million of them in production till 2023, maintained his words as follows “In the process of reaching this mighty target, we need well- educated textile engineers who will lead for 1 million new employment. The most equipped textile engineers are graduated from ITU which is ones of the established universities of our country. Out TGSD member firms will introduce themselves to the students with 10 minute presentations and do meeting to incorporate these vision- having young engineers. After the meetings, our students will choose the first firm in their careers.”
Prof. Dr. Nevin Gürsoy who is the Dean of ITU Textile Technologies and Design Faculty said “With the support of our sector, we will continue to educate young engineers, designers and marketeers” by stating that their grads have the competence of manufacturing their own brands and products both in national and international arenas.
