Oeko-Tex®, which offers a certification system for sustainable textiles at the global level and certificates the most appropriate textile products in ecological terms and for use by people, currently takes the strategic change taking place towards a global system solution for brands, retailers and manufacturers into account with its new brand architecture.
In his explanation about this issue, George Dieners, General Secretary of Oeko-Tex®, stated that, “We offer practical tools that can be used in overcoming various requirements at all operational levels. However, how the individual solutions are called for the clients is not important. What matters for them is that Oeko-Tex® is a reliable and sufficient partner. Thus, Oeko-Tex® umbrella brand and “Trust in Textile” slogan will be in the foreground in our future communications. Oeko-Tex® had introduced its new brand design at the market launch of MySTeP database, Made In Green product label and Eco Passport certification for textile chemicals. This modernized scene which started in fall 2016 will also be used with Standard 100 and STeP certification as the most well-known Oeko-Tex® brand. The new Standard 100 product label and the renewed STeP logo for communication among enterprises will be available for more than 10 thousand partner companies throughout the world.”
Dieners also stated that Oeko-Tex® Certification Centre located in Frankfurt (Main) would end its operations on 30 July as a part of these changes. Dieners made the following explanation: “Germany was the only country where laboratory tests were carried and certificates complying with Standard 100 were issued by two different institutions within the Oeko-Tex® association. From now on, laboratory tests and Standard 100 certification processes will be undertaken by Hohenstein Textile Test Institution GmbH & Co. KG, which is the official Oeko-Tex® member institution in Germany.”
