Nergis Holding to Make Textile Investment in Dagestan

Until 2 years ago, Middle East and North Africa was determined by the new investment place for Turkish textile producers; after the social events here, they began directing their investments to northern regions. Nergis Holding announced that they plan an investment in Dagestan Republic in Northern Caucasia, Russia, valuing 500 million Dollars. Cavit Çağlar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nergis, made some explanations about the investment during negotiation made with Magomedsalam Magomedov, President of Dagestan, in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. In the discussions there were also Rizvan Gazimagomedov, Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan and Saygiahmed Ahmedov, Vice President of Dagestan Parliament.

Cavit Çağlar, who thanked for the warm interest they had seen in Dagestan, stated that they have investments in Moldavia and Egypt  and they want to add Dagestan to the chain, too. Çağlar implied that raw material status, in addition to the reasonable prices and advaned transportation system attract investors’ attention and take Dagestan one step forward in terms of business advantage.

Magomedow, president of Dagestan, thanked to Çağlar due to Dagestan’ s selection for investment. Attributing to political past of Çağlar, Magomedov said; “Mr Çağlar, you are an experienced politician. You can provide very beneficial suggestions and ideas to a young manager like me”. Magomedov, emphasizing that the investment will make important contributions to Dagestan’ s socio-economic development, underlined that they are ready to give every possible support.

Şenol Şankaya, General Manager of Yeşim Tekstil which exists within the structure of Nergis Holding, had announced that the investment would be made in the name of Yeşim Tekstil. Recording that they have formed the biggest investment project that was executed abroad Turkey, Şankaya informed that 500 types of products will be manifactured in the facility.

Under the roof of Nergis Holding, established in 1994, there are Yeşim Tekstil, Nergis Tekstil, Polylen and Sifaş firms. Nergis Tekstil, established in 1978, answers the needs for polyester yarn and fabric. Polylen, being the firm’ s sister organization and taking place in Bursa Organized Industrial Zone, is also in the same place. Nergis Tekstil continues its production in an area of 167.410 squaremeters. Established in 1967, Polypen has the feature of being Turkey’ s first polyester yarn facility. The firm joined Nergis Group in 1992 and enlargened its product gam swiftly. Sifaş, Turkey’ s first synthetic yarn producers, was established in 1962. The plant which produces Turlon, Turkey’ s first Nylon 6 yarn certified brand, began production in 1964. Sifaş joined Nergis Holding Group in 1992.

Although Yeşim Tekstil was officially established in 1983, it has a rooted vision due to its managers’ long past and deep experiences within the industry. Producing ready made and home textile with its 3000 employees on a 325.000 squaremeters area in Bursa, the famous brand makes production for a variety of important international brands. Among the firms that the firm makes production for, there are Nike, Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Esprit, Hugo Boss, Lands' End, Tchibo and Schlafgut.
