According to the data of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations, Turkish leather industry, the performance of exporting companies in the "fur clothing" industry in the first month of the year, with 38.4 percent decrease compared to the same month last year, totaled 4,2 million dollars.
At the fur clothing industry that provides 3.4 percent of leather and leather products exports, this rate was recorded as 6 percent over the same month of the previous year. While the industry made corresponding to 21 percent of exports 892 thousand dollars worth of sales to Russia, exported 853 thousand dollars to France, 616 thousand to Germany, 451 thousand dollars to Italy and 80 thousand dollars to England.
In the processed fur exports, compared to the same month dropped to 2 million 638 thousand dollars with 37 percent decrease. In this industry the most exports was made to China with 936 thousan dollars. While the raw fur exports are 37 thousand dollars, most exports in this industry was carried out to Hong Kong with 21 thousand dollars.
Our Leather Exports Are Rising
Even though fur clothing has decreased, our total leather exports reached to 4.5 billion dollars. Turkish Leather Foundation (TÜRDEV) President Ruken Mızraklı said that at the end of 2013, leather industry in Turkey touristic, accompanying passengers and with special invoiced sales compared to 2012 with 16.4 increase, reached to 4.5 million dollars level. Mızraklı indicating that the most leather exports they made was to European Union (EU), also added that the leather exports they made to EU generates 34 percent of the total leather export.
