Labels used at textile sector has a new regulation. According to the new code of textile and shoe products’ labelling created by the Ministry of Customs and Trade and published on official gazette on April, labels will be prepared legible and visible in Turkish language and the labels on textile products mustn’t carry a misleading quality for consumers.
There will be explanatory information
The Minister of Customs and Trade, Nurettin Canikli who talked on the subject informed that consumers would reach the opportunity of whether the product they bought was leather or not form the label. Canikli who stated that textile and shoe products which were inspected in terms of dangerous chemicals by the Ministry of Customs and Trade would be inspected for label within the scope of two regulation published new, said "According to the new regulation which takes part in Labelling and Marking Regulation on Textile Fiber Names and Fiber Compositions of Textile Products; in case of non-animal products on textile products, the obligation of statement ‘ includes non-animal products textile pieces’ is bringing. Thus consumer can learn whether the product is leather or not from the product label. According to the new provision which will come in force in 1 January 2016, this information will be shown clearly on the product label. From now on, consumer will know whether the product he/ she buys manufactured from leather or not”.
Consumer will not be misleaded.
Canikli who stated that ‘ 100% ‘, ‘ pure’ or ‘ completely’ expressions wouldn’t be used without completing the conditions, said that ‘wool’ usage expression would only be used if the conditions on the regulations were provided and in this way consumers would be informed correct. Canikli stated that for the manufacturers and the importers who acted improperly against the provisions of the regulations and who didn’t put the correct and the proper label on their labels will be applied 3,350 Turkish liras administrative fine and also added his words that label application was an important step to protect consumer.
