Kilim Denim Will Grow With New Investments

Kilim Denim, one of the leading companies in the Turkish textile sector, continues its Edirne-based activities and expands its investment network. The investment of 48 new weaving machines in Kilim Denim, aiming to grow 10% more in 2018 with new investments and new markets, will be commissioned at the end of this year.

Fuat Mirap, Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Kilim Denim, provides special statements to our publishing group about the new investments and growth targets of Kilim Denim, maintaining its production for 32 years now without any interruption, says Kilim Denim is the first company to start manufacturing denim in Turkey and they make monthly 750 thousand meters of denim and 250 thousand meter offer non-denim fabric production.

Sustainable Processes Are Featured

Fuat Mirap states Kilim Denim has 1 million square meters of land in Edirne, 100 thousand square meters of which is allocated for production while the rest of the land is sued to grow vegetables and fruits used in the factory's kitchen and that they attach great importance to sustainability. "In addition to producing 750 thousand meters of denim and 250 thousand meters of non-denim fabric per month, Kilim Denim sews 100 thousand pieces of garments per month with its own non-denim fabrics produced for military apparel. We are making great efforts to ensure that the ecological balance is not spoiled in this great land of the most fertile lands of Thrace. In our facility, which is established for the purification of the water used during production, we use the water in the most efficient way by biological and chemical treatment. We continue to develop new processes for the use of less water and chemicals in indigo dyeing for, as you know, dense water is used in denim production.

"The Re-create collection we produce in the framework of our sustainability policy attracted a great deal of attention, especially in the European market," suggests Mirap, adding that they attach great importance to the concept of sustainability not only at the production facility but also in their collections. All fabrics in the collection are organic or BCI cotton. Also, re-cycle yarns, so-called post-consumer yarns, created by collecting and smashing and recycling them to yarns again after goods are thrown away, are also used. In addition to the cotton, this collection also includes re-cycle polyester or lyocell, natural fibers such as modal", says Mirap.

''We have accelerated our investments to improve productivity and capacity at the same time," explains Mirap, adding that they work with specialists in order to ensure that all processes, from raw material to waste management, are reassessed in the sustainability mentality and they have thus developed the necessary systems.

"48 New Weaving Machines Will Be Started To Be Manufactured By The End Of The Year"

Fuat Mirap further explains they have a technology that can produce dual core yarns particularly used  in stretch fabrics with the addition of 8000 spindle additional yarn plant, commissioned with an investment of 4 million Euros in 2015. "Increasing our capacity is our priority among our new investments planned for 2018 Within this scope, 48 new weaving machines investments will be commissioned by the end of this year. With denim fabrics that will be woven at a higher speeds, we aim to increase both efficiency and quality of fabric", comments Mirap. Mirap also adds Kilim Denim, growing by 12 percent in 2017, will grow 10 percent more in 2018 with new investments and new markets, and will increase its export share by 20 percent.

Exports To The Far East Market

Stating that Kilim Denim holds a prominent position in the market due to the quality of its products, its suitability to the market and the long-term relationships it has established with its customers, Mirap says the company used to make sales to only domestic markets, but now they have seriously increased its exports, too.  "Today, particularly in Europe, we sell fabric to many leading global jean brands.  Besides, we have recently conducted and received the results of the market research studies particularly in the Far East, and now we have started to export to the Far East market", adds Mirap.

Setting a very important example for sustainability by accurately responding to any change happened in  the market, economy and product range from past to present, Mirap concludes they aim to move the company to a more powerful position with the studies they are planning to carry out.
