One of the leading designers of Turkey, Hatice Gökçe presented her The Leather Age – Anatolia collection to the fashion followers in ACLE All China Leather Exhibition which is the most important leather trade fair of China. The collection where 16 designs were exhibited in the stand of Leather Promotion Group (DTG) drew a great deal of interest by the fashion followers.
The Collection Reflecting Eight Civilizations
Gökçe, who introduced eight Anatolian civilisations such as Hittite, Lydia, Arzawan, Ion, Urartu, Assyria and Troy in her The Leather Age – Anatolia collection, said that she wants to establish a connection between past and future. Stating that she brought the reflections of the Anatolian Civilisations to the present day on the surface of the leather, Gökçe added that she used the whole process ranging from the research she conducted in the Anatolian Civilisations library to the historical leather ateliers where leather surfaces are treated and she used all textures with special light and display techniques on the leather, used the leather like a mirror and wanted to make all details of processed leather visible. Gökçe said that: "The project is not based commercial concerns, but it praises the design process. “
“We Support All the Turkish Designers”
Chairman of DTG, Erdal Matraş said that they would continue their support and activities in order to strengthen the brand perception and increase the volume of Turkish leather before national and international public opinion. Moreover, Matraş added that they would exhibit the collection of Hatice Gökçe to the fashion followers in many cities all around the world.
Stating that the leather industry has a $ 200 billion of market share, Matraş said that Turkey is trying to get share from this amount, but the last year was not so good in terms of the sector. Saying that they take important steps in order to penetrate into the new markets, Matraş said that not only the quality of product but also its design are important, therefore they support Turkish leather designers.
